Recently, I flew American Airlines and decided to upgrade last minute to Main Cabin Extra. My flight was only an hour and a half. I deink it is worth the upgrade for a few reasons:
Boarding Early
- If you have been flying recently, you know by the time Group 3 is called, you will more than likely have to check your bag in. When booking Main Cabin Extra, you board early than Main Cabin (giving you access to the cabin storage earlier)
Leg Space
- I am 5’10 so anytime I fly, I prefer to take advantage of seating with more leg room.
Closer to the Exit door
- Have a connecting flight? booking Cabin Extra will allow you to get off the plane much faster than rows in the back of the plane. This has come in handy for me plenty of times in the past (Especially when my connecting flight is what a different Airline or terminal).
Relax
- When boarding the plane, you sometimes feel rushed to hurry about placing your items in the bin so everyone can board faster. I have noticed when I book Cabin Extra, Business, or First Class, I cannot feel as rushed to sit down. I can stow items in the overhead bin, and remove or put on my jacket/sweatshirt, without feeling rushed. This helps relaxes me before takeoff.
I found the leg room extremely generous! It is definitely worth the upgrade and I hope you found this article helpful.
